Vox Members I ask you...
What is the correct phrase to answer to the question 'you are straight right?'
My brother said I should never ask a woman if she straight or gay because it should not matter, unless you are interested. Fortunately, so far women speak clearly with body language in San Francisco much louder than in LA that they are into YOU.
But when you are asked if you are straight; this is probably one of the most difficult questions to answer in San Francisco as a newbie. First of all, because you do not want to use a tone of voice that will insult a gay man that is in the vicinity. You also have to use the correct words for example:
"wtf? Do I look gay?" wtf is cool online but doesn't sound great in a pricey setting.
"Pardon me, but I am not into men" sounds soft, woman might still question that.
"I don't swing that way towards the men" eh sounds divebar behavior.
"I love the ladies" sounds good but its still missing something...
"I am straight, and I love the ladies" with a clear tone of voice.
What do you think is the right phrase for a straight guy to answer when he is asked if he is straight by a woman?

"Yes, you are correct. I am straight".
That's saying 'yes' three times, in different ways, all in one sentence. So the questioner should understand it clearly.
What Aina said. Yes.
If you are asked BY A WOMAN if you are straight, and you are, just say. Yes.
If she is attractive, you could add...are you asking for you or someone else?
But it's a major part of someone's personality so if you're being friendly it's a normal and polite thing to ask in any situation, same as you'd ask where they live, what their occupation, hobbies are etc. Really the issue is how the question is asked, not answered. If you're not sure how the question is intended you could just say "Why d'you ask?".
